DIALOG moves debates started in the comment sections of social-media sites into a video-chat platform where the people previously typing comments back and forth can have a more lengthy, face-to-face discussion around the topic at hand. For example, on a particular site, commenter A finds her keyboard debate with another person unproductive. She simply uploads an invitation link into one of her comments directed toward this person. This link requests that the other person, commenter B, discuss things further in DIALOG. If commenter B takes commenter A up on her offer, the two can schedule a simulcast through DIALOG at a date that is best for each. When ready, they can have a much more lengthy discussion. Also, other users of DIALOG can watch the debate unfold either at present or later as a recorded interaction.
