So the idea is to use existing seats available in a car that is readily available and also traveling in the same direction. The idea dawned on me when I helping a friend with his work in construction and we were sitting in traffic stuck on the freeway.
Looking around I see there are plenty of empty seats still around us. Three in ours, four in another car. What stood out to me, was that we were all heading into the same direction.
I figured much like a train or a bus, people can roughly get to a location and make their way to their destination if not there is a certain rate of vehicles traveling in many directions, and who knows one may get you even closer to your destination.
Pricing would have to be competitive and still incentivise the driver. However, the driver isn't going out of their way, they're essentially being paid to still travel in their direction they are headed to without losing their time. But because of this the incentive would naturally be lower than working for Uber.
